When I say solo, that's a relative term. Fred and James went to the train station a couple of days earlier to get the tickets. We caught the morning train with Audrey and Robert from Wollerau to Zurich and when we arrived in Zurich, they led us to the train we needed to get on to go to Basel. It was very nice having someone to hold our hands for our first experience with European trains ...
Brechtje met us at the main train station in Basel. The main bahnhof is huge and it took us a bit to get our directions straight. Once we figured out where the exit was, we headed over to the Basel Hilton to check in. The hotel was only a block from the station, so we only had a short walk with our luggage.
After a leisurely lunch with some lessons from our European friends on communicating with restaurant waitstaff, we strolled back to Jens and Christina's car for a day trip to Freiburg, Germany.
